Sworn Translations
Professional certified translations of official documents for foreigners
What Are Sworn Translations?
A sworn translation is an official translation of a document performed by a sworn translator registered with the Ministry of Justice. The translation bears the seal and signature of the sworn translator and includes a repertory number -- which gives it the status of an official document recognized by Polish institutions, courts, offices, and banks.
Unlike ordinary translations, a sworn translation includes the translator's clause confirming the accuracy of the translation against the original. The sworn translator bears legal responsibility for the correctness of the translation, which guarantees the highest quality and credibility of the document.
For foreigners residing in Poland, sworn translations are essential at nearly every stage of stay legalization -- from submitting a visa application to obtaining citizenship. Without properly translated documents, the office will not accept the application or will request supplementation of formal deficiencies.
What Documents Do We Translate?
We translate all types of documents required by Polish offices and institutions. The most commonly translated documents include: birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, university diplomas, school certificates, employment certificates, criminal record clearances, driving licenses, and passports.
We also perform sworn translations of medical documents (vaccination records, test results, medical certificates), banking documents (statements, certificates of funds), corporate documents (articles of association, registry extracts), and all official and court correspondence.
We translate documents from and into Ukrainian, Russian, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Georgian, Belarusian, Vietnamese, Hindi, and many other languages. For rare language pairs, we provide two-stage translation with an intermediary language.
When Do You Need a Sworn Translator?
Sworn translations are required in many life situations for foreigners in Poland. Banks require translated documents when opening an account, applying for a loan, or a credit card. Courts and civil registry offices need sworn translations of birth and marriage certificates when transcribing foreign records into the Polish registry.
Schools and universities require translated certificates and diplomas when enrolling students from abroad. Medical facilities may require translations of medical documentation. Voivodeship offices require sworn translations of all foreign-language documents attached to residence permit applications.
Sworn translations are also essential for the nostrification of foreign diplomas, recognition of professional qualifications, registration of foreign vehicles, and in court and administrative proceedings where a party uses documents in a foreign language.
How to Order a Translation?
Ordering a sworn translation is simple. Just send us a scan or photo of the document by email or through the contact form. Within a few hours you will receive a quote and estimated completion time. The standard turnaround is 1-3 business days, but we also offer an express service with completion within 24 hours.
After accepting the quote, the sworn translator prepares the translation and affixes their seal, signature, and repertory number. The completed translation is delivered in paper form (original with seal) -- in person at our office in Warsaw or by courier to any address in Poland.
Additionally, we send a scan of the translation by email, allowing quick use of the document in digital form. Sworn translation prices are in accordance with the Minister of Justice's regulation and depend on the language and volume of the document.
