In accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 235 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2023, item 519, as amended), documents such as residence cards are issued and renewed only upon payment of the relevant fee.

The amount of the fee for the issue or renewal of a residence card is set out in the current Regulation of the Minister of the Interior and Administration of 26 July 2022 on fees charged in the Republic of Poland to foreign nationals for the issue and renewal of documents which may be issued to foreign nationals, and the procedure for their payment.

In accordance with the provisions of this regulation, the fee for issuing a residence card, as well as for any replacement of a residence card, is: 100 zł.

[PLEASE NOTE! If the residence card is replaced due to the culpable loss or destruction of a previously issued residence card, the stamp duty will amount to 200 zł. If, however, the replacement is due to a second instance of the loss of the residence card through no fault of the holder or its subsequent destruction, this fee will amount to as much as 300 zł]

Reductions in the residence card fee

In Article 237 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2023, item 519, as amended), the legislator has set out a number of situations which entitle the holder to a 50 per cent reduction in the stamp duty for obtaining (or replacing) a residence card.
